What are the eviction notice requirements in Antioch?
Antioch enacted a Just Cause Eviction Ordinance (No. 2240-C-S, passed September 10, 2024) that prohibits landlords from terminating a tenancy without just cause. At-fault just cause includes nonpayment of rent, lease violations, nuisance, and illegal activity. No-fault just cause (owner move-in, substantial remodel, withdrawal from rental market) also requires advance notice and, in some cases, relocation assistance. Under the ordinance, if the landlord re-rents the unit within 24 months after an owner move-in eviction, they must offer the former tenant first right of refusal at no more than the allowable increase. The Anti-Harassment Ordinance prohibits retaliatory eviction attempts.
